This week, for the Red Writing Hood prompt for Write on Edge, we were issued the challenge to tell a story in 140 characters. Not words, characters. 140. Including spaces and punctuation. You know, like a tweet. I offer you, in exactly 137 characters, my post: “Happy Hour.”
The dogs are barking.
My two year-old won’t eat.
A toddler tornado hit my home.
Please pass the wine.
Wait—dammit.
I can’t drink.

Haha! Excellent, you did really well! Love this prompt. I was just whining about having to skip reading really long blog posts the other day. No attention span (or time).
Good job! I’ll drink a glass of wine in your honor.
Love this.
Can you substitute chocoalte for wine? That always helps me a little
Love it. I did have to break out the beer tonight myself, and it certainly did help
next time I’ll drink an extra one for you!
LOL, fun…maybe some sparkly apple juice? So you FEEL like you are drinking wine, even though it doesn’t have the KICK
I didn’t know you were pregnant
Congrats!
Hilarious! I just had two glasses of wine in your honor…and some chocolate. Because that’s what friends are for.
This made me giggle. And feel bad for you. I’ll have one for you, k? xo
Yes. Stop messing with my hood, universe. Hugs, my dear. And take just a sip…
Nice work! You got a lot of stuff into 140 characters.
Hee!
Don’t worry. I’ll drink your wine for you. #TrueFriend
With the kind of week you are having I think a small sip is in order.
Did your house really get hit by a tornado..oh my goodness. Thinking of u sweets!
No tornado really–although big storms. But it’s actually more a reference to what the child did to the inside of my house!
Nicely done!!! Felt those things, too, good emotional piece
Very relate-able. Except for the tornado part. LOL My tweet would probably end there.
Ha! Love this!! It’s nice to know you have such great friends that will drink wine FOR you
Aren’t they great like that? Givers, they are.
Ha ha! You did a great job! I sympathize with the toddler tornado and inability to drink wine! Amazing how you captured it all in 140 characters!
I have definitely had days like those.
Wow, sounds like you need a drink. Or a moment of peace locked in the bathroom until the chaos passes.
Ha! I’m with ya. I usually need a drink after a toddler tornado. Enjoy that glass once the baby arrives.
I can definitely relate to this! I say substitute some chocolate for that wine and have yourself a big glass once the baby arrives.
Love this! Great challenge to do
Oh… oof.
Good one! I was wondering how people would do it. Love yours.
LOVE It, can feel the frustration. Good job on the prompt
Ohh.. sounds like a rough day all around. They seem to hover around wherever there happens to be a toddler. Coincidence? I think not.
Oh, the disappointment. The heartache. The drawbacks of being pregnant. This one made me giggle…and feel for you. I loved it!
Haha, great job! Made me giggle, but also feel bad for your frustration.
My house always looks like that. I should be a drunk!
Made me lol, it’s such a familiar feeling.
You packed so much in so few words. Excellent! I just want to give you a hug and a helping hand after reading this.
Nice job! Funny and oh so true. Don’t worry – you will drink again!
Great job, and I’ll be happy to drink your glass of wine if you can’t drink it. Waste not, want not, you know…
Noooooooooooooo!!! Poor thing. Well, there’s always chocolate.
I can feel the exhaustion, frustration, the break the wine would give. There’s always ice cream! :>
I felt this way just about everyday while pregnant!
Excellent way to tell your tale in a mere 140 characters! My tweets are never, ever so well put.
I remember days like that! My girls are grown now, but the memory lingers. Thank God for the good memories!
By the way, I am going to borrow that 140 character prompt and see what I can create with it; sounds like a fun challenge, do you mind sharing?
LOL.. awesome!
At least you have wine to look forward to after the babes is born!
